How’s Your Spelling?

Your Spelling is Good

You got 8/10 correct.Your spelling is generally pretty decent. You are prone to a few mistakes, but the mistakes you make are pretty forgivable.

How’s Your Spelling?

If Adsense Disappeared, What Would You Do?

For some reason I get a kick out of taking my Google checks to the bank. I always like to see the face of the bank teller when they see my little old name on a check from a very well known company. I guess I feel proud that I’ve “cracked the online code” and am displaying the fact that I work from home successfully.

If you haven’t guessed by now, Adsense is one of my main streams of income. I do have several streams like any good internet marketer, but it’s one of the checks I always count on at a certain time every month. Everything else comes “whenever”.

The other day I got to thinking, what would I do if Adsense disappeared tomorrow? What if Google just decided on day to pull the Adsense program?  Now the chances of that are slim to none, since they would lose a LOT of revenue. I mean seriously, my check is rather small compared to others online marketers. And that’s only a PERCENTAGE of what they got for all those clicks. Don’t doubt for a second they aren’t getting the majority of the share just for the content side. That’s got to be a good chunk of THEIR income, so I don’t see it going away any time soon. Maybe redesigned, but not completely pulled.

Regardless, it’s always good to take a second look at your streams of income. If one disappeared, would you lose the majority of your income? Direct sales reps suffer from this quite often when a company decides to “switch gears” and delete their program. Which is why I’m such an advocate of personal websites - if your company goes belly up, you’ve still got your site and all the hard work you’ve put into it. YOUR site doesn’t go away, and you can always redesign it for a similar company (or affiliate programs).

So take a minute today and look at your different streams of income. Can they be replaced? Is there something that can make MORE money? What else could you put WITH it? Important questions and worth looking into!

Happy Anniversary 2 Wahms Blog!

Today, April 9th, 2008 marks the one year anniversary of our blog 2Wahms.com.

Actually, to be official … this is the one year anniversary of the NEW 2 Wahms Blog here at WordPress.  Our first post here was on April 9th, 2007 welcoming all our readers to our new blog and it just grew at an amazing rate from there.

Let me take this moment to thank each and every one of our readers/subscribers for helping us build such a successful blog!

Please feel free to leave us a comment and help us celebrate!

Get Paid for Articles

Many of you have probably visited Associate Content at least once or twice by now. What you may not have known is you actually get PAID for those articles. Yes, I’m that far behind on the times and I just now realized this.

Actually I’m not one that jumps right into the “latest and greatest” things. I know some do and that’s fine, but it’s not for me. I like to sit back and watch how it all plays out before I get myself involved.  So whenever I see “Brand new! Check this out…..” I tend to tune out the rest. Lead with “This has been out for awhile and here’s my results…”, then I’m paying full attention.

I really do like the idea, and it’s a pay-per-view type of deal. I can’t say their payout is better than what I normally make on any give page of Idea Queen, but since they don’t mind articles you’ve already published… hey why not?  Granted I don’t think I can put my links in like I would a normal article, but again that’s alright. It’s just one more way I can use that content I’ve already written to make a few bucks. Plus of course they have the whole community thing going on making it a nice place to network.

I also see this as a nice outlet for writing pieces that just don’t fit any of my sites. You know the stuff that you just KNOW your audience couldn’t care less about, but you feel like writing something anyway. Hey if it’s a good topic, why not?

Here’s an idea that just hit me - how about those sites you spend a lot of time on (or money too), but they don’t have an affiliate program? I can think of a few I’m around quite a bit and would recommend a lot more if they had an affiliate program. So that would be perfect to write about - sites which average moms probably wouldn’t care about (and yes I’ll admit what it is - I like online games!), but those surfing around Associated Content might. Why not make some money off my experiences there?

I guess what I like most about this site is the fact it’s pay per view. You don’t get paid unless people are interested enough to actually look at your article. The better you write, the more people will look at your other articles, and the more money you make. So it’s not just a flat rate deal, but a chance to make quite a bit of money based on how skilled you are.

So I’m giving this a shot. If I really like it, you’ll be hearing more about this from me!

I Dream Therefore I Am…An Insect

©Lisa Barker

I dreamt I was a fruit fly.  A little white fruit fly flying among
thousands of fruit flies.  I was looking for my husband.  But he had flown
off because he was in the military service (of fruit flies, of course).

So I flew to Australia to see his mom because I knew she could help.
She turned me into a two-inch fruit fly doll, just like the whole
family.  They lived in a tree house with one entire side of the house open
toward the ocean.  The whole family gathered and posed facing the ocean,
so I turned to see why and there was a man taking our family portrait.
When he put the camera down I saw it was my husband in human form.
  And then I woke up.

You see the problem with my dreams is that they defy standard dream
dictionary definitions.  I have yet to discover what it means when one
dreams she is a fruit fly.

Many times I’ve dreamt I am a mermaid, symbolizing feminine traits
deep in the subconscious.  But what good does this do me when deep down I
am a fruit fly?

My family gets a kick out of the dreams I share with them unless, of
course, the dream happens to be about my husband or children doing
something wrong or annoying and I wake up and blame them for something they
have no idea about.

Like if I dream that my husband works all the time and never comes
home.  Yet I’m never home because I lost my house and can’t find it.
This really aggravates me and somehow it’s his fault and I let him
have it when I wake up.

Other times I dream that my kids will not listen to me and after a
night of yelling in my sleep, “You better leave that dam alone!” I’m
in no mood for them first thing in the morning.

“But, Momma, we didn’t do anything!”

“Oh, yes you did.  Last night you kept letting the water out of the
dam and how many times have I told you not to do that?”  They never
had a good answer.

In my most recent dream, I was my husband and he was me.  “So,” he
wanted to know, “when you kissed me were you kissing yourself?”

“No, I was like an omniscient first person narrator.  I was inside
both our heads.”

“And what did I think?”

“That you should probably get me some diamonds for Valentine’s
Day.”

“Yeah, right.”

Well, they say if you can dream it, you can achieve it.  Maybe I will
get jewelry for Valentines Day.  Or maybe I’ll just get an aging bunch
of bananas, fruit fly that I am.

Tech Withdraw or Go Top-Less?

Ha, ha - caught your attention, didn’t I?
Yes, this IS a family friendly blog and NO, I’m not saying you should go topless.
Shame on you for thinking this

Do you think the world can go top-less or would they go through tech withdraw? Businesses and schools ban laptops and other tech toys from meetings and classes. The new concept of going “top-less” means many businesses, schools etc. meetings must be laptop free.

Some say the “multi-tasking” everyone does all the time no matter what they’re doing whether it’s a business meeting, classroom or even going out to dinner means you no longer have that “undivided attention” that used to be there before “tech-mainia”. However, the top-less concept has now brought on a whole new problem … Tech Withdraw … the newest kind of addiction withdraw.

Watch the short video below to see how the top-less concept came about and how some are dealing with tech withdraw:

If you were no longer allowed to use your cell phone, PDA, laptop or any other techy device … would you go through tech withdraw?

I’m almost ashamed to admit  I think I would!
