Blogtipping Day - May 1st!

I Love Blogtipping! Just a reminder from my first post I’m going Blogtipping!  That’s tomorrow!  I’ve already been scoping out some unsuspecting blogs .  I’m looking forward to sneaking up behind them and Bam!  Ha ha ha ha … I can’t wait!  Okay so as they say, small minds are easily amused.  But you have to admit, this is gonna be fun.  I already have more than 3 unsuspecting victims on my list ;-)

My list of blogtipping buds is kind of short . . . who will be joining us?

Bad Marketing Ideas

It doesn’t matter how many times we say this, the bad tips keep getting passed around. It amazes me really, how people that have been online for so long can keep saying these are GOOD ideas. They’ve tested them, and know they aren’t really getting anywhere. So why pass them along?

So here’s the top three list of “bad ideas” I saw today.

#1. Join surfing sites
People, these DO NOT WORK. Yeah you get visitors, but you don’t get customers. Go spend your time doing something more productive that WILL bring you customers. Like SEO work.

#2. Use keyword tags
You want to stuff your site with 50+ keywords in the tag, go right ahead. Google doesn’t pay one bit of attention to them though. I’m not saying ignore them, but don’t spend hours on it. Google also doesn’t pay attention when you “submit your site” to them. Google crawls your site all on it’s own, so go back to working on SEO.

#3. Run contests
Looking for a way to build a list of freebie seekers that won’t spend a dime? Run some contests giving away free stuff. Those who join your list to get something free will NEVER BUY. In fact, they are more likely to cry spam than spend any money on you. Quality over quantity…..remember that.

It really does amaze me these things are still being suggested, especially by people who have been around for awhile. Anita even wrote an article focused on this very topic probably 3 years ago……and this stuff is STILL being passed around! No wonder so many people fail online when they are listening to “advice” like this.

Seriously, be very careful who you listen to on message boards, and do your own testing before offering advice.

That’s Disgusting!

You’re probably going to see a post just like this from Kara as soon as she finds out she was tagged too, lol!  Bev of Bev’s Bits tagged us in a neat little game called . . . yup, you guessed it . . . That’s Disgusting!  The way it works is like this:

1)  Post at least one disgusting thing you have found in your house.
2)  Link back to this post.
3)  Link back to the blogger that Tagged you.
4)  Go tag another blogger.

Seems simple enough . . . let’s roll!

After reading Bev’s little 8 month stint . . . I remembered I had her beat by 2 years and 4 months!  One day I was washing a load of laundry when right before the rinse cycle, my washer starting making a horrible loud sound.  I went to the laundry room shut off the washer and waited for hubby to come home.  When he came home he tried fixing it and ran a test run to see if it was working.  It turned out that hubby couldn’t fix it.  So, it got moved over into a corner of my laundry room and we bought a new one.  For the next 3 years it became a place to pile folded clothes until the owner came down to get them.  Finally 3 years later we decided that it was probably time to get rid of it.  While moving it around we noted and awful smell.  We opened it up and OMG did it smell HORRIBLE!  Hmm . . . So, there’s where that nightgown went!

Ok, now that I’ve aired my dirty laundry, it’s your turn!

The Unfit Mother

Day One.  I awake to the doorbell.  My toddler son has not yet crawled into bed with me to snuggle as he usually does, so I shuffled quietly down the hall to answer the door.

To my great shock, it’s my son—in just his boxers and t-shirt—with a big grin on his face.  I profusely thank the two women that have brought him home.  As soon as I get my son inside, I ask him what he thinks he was doing.

Speaking of Advertising

We’ve been talking alot about advertising here on the blog lately.  If you have a targeted group of visitors and decent traffic, selling advertising can be one way to make money online.  Like I said though, you really have to have the proper stats to back up your pricing.  If you don’t have much traffic or are hosting with a free hosting company, then selling advertising will have to be put on the back burner until you build up your traffic.  Hint:  Look at your Daily Unique Visitors - NOT Hits.  Hits are literally a worthless stat.

I’ve been selling advertising for quite a few years now, mainly on my own.  However, I’m also listed on Link Worth and sell advertising through their website.  Their website describes them very well - a meeting ground for advertisers and website owners.  I’ve been working with this website for well over a year now and have been very satified.  This is one deposit I can count on every month ;)

I started with Link Worth when they were still fairly new and only offered partners the option to publish text link advertising.  As most should know, text link advertising is one of the best types of advertising when it comes to search engine marketing.  Search engines LOVE text so it makes perfect sense to choose text over graphics.

Advertising with text ads increases your link popularity.  The better your link popularity, the higher your website will be placed in the search engine results.  (Which IS the ultimate goal for every website owner, isn’t it??)

Link Worth has since expanded and now has a lot more to offer to both website owners (partners) and advertisers.  I’m really impressed with the quality of expansion they’ve showed.  I see myself as a partner for a long time to come.

Buying and Selling Advertising

For those of you selling advertising, pay close attention here. Unless of course you feel your site is better than Google or Yahoo. For those of you buying advertising, this could be a major reason you aren’t making a profit.

Advertising With Articles

Online Advertising Secrets Exposed - Part 4

Advertising with articles is not only an extremely effective way to advertise online it is also one of the fastest ways to see a return on your investment. If you have a limited budget then this is the way to go because it doesn’t cost anything to submit articles. It works like this; you write an article on a topic related to your business or product. Then you include a resource box at the end that has text describing your product with a link to more information. Then submit it to article directories where webmasters look for content for their websites or ezines. They then publish your article if it fits in with their site. The whole thing is done on a no cost basis and is beneficial to everyone. The ezine publisher or webmaster gets a free article, the article directory gets visitors to their site and you get publicity for your business.

Homemaking Hijinks

©Lisa Barker

My house is decidedly a ‘deconstruction zone’ where
each child and pet tries to outdo the other in
wrecking the place.  “Mom, I slid on the floor and
accidentally put my knee through the wall.”

My dinners are done when at least three smoke
detectors go off and my sheets haven’t been washed in
so long they don’t need to be ironed.

I’m Going Blogtipping!

Will you join me?

Mark your calendars - Tuesday, May 1st 2007  marks the first anniversary of the very first blogtipping day.

I Love Blogtipping!

Definition of Blogtipping:  Blogtipping is where you publish a blog post in which you link to three unsuspecting blogs and offer three compliments and/or one helpful tip to each blogger. (Or adapt those numbers to your own preferences; the principle of selflessness is what matters most here.) Blogtipping is a refreshing and useful surprise that can start a blogger’s month with a huge smile!

Now does that sound like fun or what?

I first heard about Blogtipping from a good friend of mine, Bev when she said, Who’s up for some blogtipping?   On May 1st I’ll be sneaking around find like-minded blogs - and when you least expect it - bam!  I’m goin’ tippin’!  There’s a good chance I’ll tip more than one blog.  I know myself better than that and I won’t be able to resist!  LOL!  I’ll post each tip I make here so make sure you stop by here too!

Will you join us?  Leave a comment and I’ll list you below!

Mom and Ear Aches

Kara recently posted about Kids and Ear Aches  I felt so bad for her little guy.  Now THIS mom is down with an ear ache … and all I can say is, Owwweeee!  I’ve been battling a cold since Saturday morning but woke up with this today.  I had a doctor’s appointment for on Tuesday but they cancelled because - how ironic - the doctor called in sick, lol!
