5 Questions for Online Business Women

I almost missed it, but Lynn tagged us last week with “5 Questions for Online Business Women”. Better late than never, right?

1. When did you start your business?

My first website went up at the end of 2002, so about 5 years ago was when I first started playing with websites and online business.

2. How many businesses have you owned?

Before I came online to work, I was co-owner of a restaurant here in town. Sorta lol. It belonged to my mother, but I had quite a bit of say in it for several years. Mom’s Market was my first site (which may be getting a huge face lift soon), and I’ve since owned quite a few websites.

3. Name one of your most valuable mentors.

As corny as it may sound, my dad. There’s a whole lot of business knowledge held in that person. He grew up in a family business (greenhouse owned by his father). No matter what the fad is online, common business sense NEVER dies.

Online, well I don’t think I have a “most valuable”. I accept information from all sorts of people.

4. How many hours do you work each day?

I use to work every available hour in the day, from morning until night. After a major burn out, I set a regular schedule. I don’t always stick to it, but it’s usually 8am to 3pm. Some days I have an extra long lunch, and end up squeezing in a few hours in at night. On average I’d say 6 hours a day, 5 days a week.

5. Name one of the mistakes you’ve made and learned from in your business.

Taking short cuts. What works now might not work tomorrow, so your success may only be short term if you are taking short cuts. I’ve had to start from scratch a few times because I didn’t build it the right way the first time, or whatever it was I was doing stopped working. So what I build now I take my time with, making sure it has a solid foundation. It takes longer to see a success with, but it’s worth it in the long run.
Tag, you’re it! I’m tagging some new and old blood for this one…….

Must Read Blog Posts Meme

Alrighty, since Memes are so popular, and we ALL love the link love … I decided it was time to create my OWN Meme

—– start copy and paste —–

Have you ever read a blog post that was absolutely awesome, totally hit home or taught you a lesson you’ll never forget? Maybe you’ve read a post that you just know would help many others? Sure you have, we all have. Because of this, I’ve created the Must Read Blog Posts Meme. It’s very simple to do with lots of link love.

Copy and paste everything in between and including the start and end tags and then all you have to do is post your favorite blog posts and follow the rules listed below:

Here’s the rules:

1. MUST be family friendly!
2. Only FIVE links.
3. Must be clickable text (share those keywords!)
4. Include a link back to the person who tagged you.
5. Posts can NOT be your own posts.
6. Tag at least 3 other people
7. Make it a learning experience - actually read the posts listed by the person who tagged you.
8. Anita from A Tale of 2 Wahms is this meme’s originator. (An active link is appreciate.)

You weren’t tagged but you want to play along anyway? Reply here and I’ll stop by and invite you. (Don’t forget to post your link!)

—– end copy and paste —–

My Links Meme

I’m so far behind on my tags and I almost put this one off but - geesh, people are going to start to think I’m a snob! LOL! Not a snob - just super busy! So, with that thought in mind, I thought I better jump on this one ;)

Just copy paste THIS and everything below up until my Five links:

I thought it would be cool to have a meme where we post links. We can post up to five. Then we tell five more people to share their links. If we all share who tagged us, our links are sure to be seen!

They can be business links, favorite sites, affiliate links, whatever you want…

There are Five Rules:

1. MUST be clean. No R rated sites.
2. Only FIVE links.
3. MUST tell 5 people.
4. A link back to the person who tagged you
5. Lara’s Place is the meme originator. (an active link is appreciated)
