OMG! This is just too funny! I’ll tell you – if this is any indication of how funny the movie might be – I’m all for it! LOL! Hubby and I were just discussing about seeing a movie this evening. Knowing that it’s February 6th and that for a while now I’ve been telling him I would like to see the movie He’s Just Not That In to You – my husband was quick to reply that it’d be kind of cool for the boys to see a movie and the girls to see another. Surprised? Of course you’re not! LOL! He did make a valid point – it would be kind of cool to do that tonight but …

But here ya go! I of course warned him from day one of me seeing the previews that this is indeed a chick flick. Keep in mind though – I seldom ask him to see chick flicks with me. If anything, I wait until they come out on video and we watch them at home. So, he knew he really couldn’t back out on me on this one or try to change my mind. Oh but he did almost do it with the “boys/girls” idea!

So as I was looking at showtimes and all … I came across the funniest movie clip yet! It’s three of the guy actors for the movie (Kevin Connolly, Bradley Cooper & Justin Long) with PROOF that guys – you won’t mind taking your ladies to see this! It’s NOT a chick flick and they share the 10 reasons exactly why it’s not. You have got to see this! This is just too darn funny to not! And ladies, use this video for it’s intended use, okay? Share it with the man in your life and let them know that it’s okay if they go to see this one!

He’s Just Not That in to You: Proof It’s Not a Chick Flick

The only problem I have with this clip is I so think they should have included Ben Affleck in there!

I put my copywriting skills to good use today. And actually, I’m rather proud of myself, so I had to share.

Some of you may know I’ve had a heck of a time with one kid in school. Part of it is my son’s behavior issues, part the school royally messing up. One “tailored” behavior plan after another had him completely running the show by the end of the year last spring (which the behavior plan was not really catered to him, but rather a standard, screwy plan to get him to sit down and shut up. It failed in a major way.)

So I decided everything needed to be scratched. The only thing being kept of the original plan was to send me home a daily report, which will consist of only one thing – good day, so-so day, or bad day. That’s it. Depending on how he did at school will determine what happens at home. Good day = quarter. So-so day = nothing gained nothing lost. Bad day = after school grounding (no computer, no games, no bike, no friends, etc). Simple, yet with both rewards and punishments.

Now where does the copywriting come in? Ah, that’s how I got him to actually listen to “the plan”. I didn’t tell him, I just let him read. And I started it out like this:

Want to earn FREE STUFF just for going to school?

Oh yeah, that caught his attention. And he READ it – all of it – and let it absorb. He’s now got it in his head that if he does well in school, he’ll be getting money. And of course like any good sales copy, I didn’t just say he’d get money, but how he could USE that money should he have good days every day. Which for us it would be things like getting ice cream ($1, or 4 good days), going to walmart to play games (they have an arcade, his favorite costing $1 per game), or buying toys at the dollar store (again, costing $1). All of those went into the sales letter, along with the mention if he SAVED his money he could get a “Really cool toy”.

See, for him it’s important to have a clear goal with a lot of room to change his mind. Money was the perfect solution because he knows he can DO something with it, and what he WANTS to do can change 100 times during the week – yet the main goal is still there. Earn money = do fun, special things. Unlike the school, which dangled specific “treats” in front of his face which he may or may not care about (which this plan started failing in kindergarten when he would actually say “no thanks” to rewards…..he’ll be in 2nd grade this year! They KNEW this was failing from the start!). What he wants at the beginning of the day might not be what he wants after lunch, thus their reward system was flawed from the beginning. Plus there was no real punishment in place for not working towards the reward, other than not having the reward. Threating to take away bike, games, and computer has always worked at home, yet they took that control away from me 2 years ago. Thankfully it will be put BACK now.

I mean think about it, what if you were told the money you are working for was to go to a set amount of prizes? What if someone said “We’ll give you $500 for your work this month, but you have to spend it on CDs”. Bet we wouldn’t work as hard, now would we? Heck no, we’d want to use that money on what we wanted. Assuming it’s “extra” money to begin with, we’d want to spend it on a variety of things. A dinner out, a few movies, maybe some books……not the WHOLE AMOUNT on ONE THING. Why do they think a kid would see it differently? My kids know what money is, and they know we use it to buy things. Giving them something clear to work for is not a bad thing, but there needs to be room for them to change their minds too. Getting them to think about what they can BUY with that money is good, but telling them they can ONLY have certain items is NOT a good idea.

Anyway, I thought this was rather creative and thought I’d share. Amazing how business ideas can work their way into every day life.

Gee, as if we don’t have enough to worry about with gas?!?

If you’re anything like me, I very rarely carrry cash on me in the first place, not alone carry enough on me for the crazy costs of fuel at the pump.  Those of us that use the plastic at the pump need to be quite a bit more careful with this “bait and switch” ploy some gas stations have been using.

What’s happening is since most credit card companies charge merchants a fee per transaction, gas stations are starting to pass these fees along to those who use plastic at the pump.  While I don’t think this is right in the first place, it gets worse.  The “bait and switch” happens when the gas station doesn’t post or advertise that these additional fees are there.  When you’re pulling into a gas station, you see one price per gallon but when you swipe your card at the pump, you see another.

Whatch this video to see how it’s been done then be sure to watch when you swipe the plastic.  I can guarantee you, I find any gas stations doing this, they will be cancelling my sale.  Not to mention I’ll never be back and everyone I know will know also.

Bait and Switch at the Pumps Video

Woo Hoo!  Since these types of email scams often hunt down women who wish to work at home and too often claim them as their own victims … I thought you’d love to know that a Washington woman was sentenced on Wednesday to two years in prison and five years of supervised release for her role in an Internet counterfeit check scheme.

Click above to read the whole story.  I hope to see this take down will lead to taking down many, many others AND they do succeed in making the public a little more aware of what’s going on.  It kills me every time I hear of someone else being scammed out of their hard earned money!!

You might have noticed the site has been down for a week or so now, and the template has changed. Things might look a little weird while we put all the pieces back together. It’s a long story, but we’ll just leave it at hosting issues. Website problems have become so routine to me I hardly notice them anymore. Ah well, that’s what online business is about though!

Do you think the world can go top-less or would they go through tech withdraw? Businesses and schools ban laptops and other tech toys from meetings and classes. The new concept of going “top-less” means many businesses, schools etc. meetings must be laptop free.

Some say the “multi-tasking” everyone does all the time no matter what they’re doing whether it’s a business meeting, classroom or even going out to dinner means you no longer have that “undivided attention” that used to be there before “tech-mainia”. However, the top-less concept has now brought on a whole new problem … Tech Withdraw … the newest kind of addiction withdraw.
