As I, probably like many other Americans sit here and watch the Presidential Inauguration, it’s been making me think. First of all, I’m thinking I’m glad I’m recording this (with my brand new DVR) just in case my kids aren’t watching it at school. (lol!) I’m sure they are but … just in case and well, this is some major history in the making, it sure wouldn’t hurt to keep a recorded copy of this.

Anyway, I’m sure you know, that’s not the point of this post. Today I’m thinking about something all new – mainly to this blog. I hardly ever hit polictical issues anywhere near my “biz stuff” but today … just overlook me, lol!

Another thing that made me think today was this video:

I think we all have one thing in common here … whether you voted for or support Barrack Obama … I believe we all have the common fight here that this country is due for a Real Change.

So, in my opinion, if anything should bring this country together, it should be that we all need something different. I know each and every one of us have been hit with this financial disaster our country is currently in. Whether you’ve lost your home or you’re on your way to doing so. Or whether you’ve lost a job due to being laid off or the company going under. Heck, what about the way our gas prices had been? Yes, we’ve all been hit in one way or another. We all hope for a better USA.

Why else do you think that the inauguration and the election was such a huge part of history in the making? Why else do you see so many different race and ethnicities lining those streets in our nation’s capital? Am I on the right track here?

That video above really hit home. It’s time for a change AND we all need to do our part. So you see, this post isn’t about Obama and whether or not he should be where he is but more along the lines of … we all need to do our part to make this country the best damn country there is AGAIN.

I decided to add my pledge to the Presidential Pledge page on MySpace but I wanted to share it here too:

-*- I pledge to be a better American.

-*- I pledge to try to make a difference instead of complaining about the way something is done.

-*- I pledge to research till I find an organization that I feel passionate about – passionate enough to help make a difference.

-*- I pledge to raise my children to know the importance of loving one another no matter race, religion or anything else that makes us not just different from one another but special in their own way.

-*- I pledge to help start this new country with an open mind and a goal of a better life for me, my children and my future grandchildren.

-*- I pledge to take better care of my planet by ceasing use of plastic bags in the grocery store, recycling, cutting back on water use and whatever else I can do to make sure this planet is around and in an inhabitable condition for many generations to come.

-*- I pledge to continue working hard and riding through this recession till the end. I pledge to come out of this recession living in the home we are now – No matter how hard I have to work for it.

-*- I pledge to remember that there is always someone else who has it a little worse than I no matter how hard I think things are for me and my family.

-*- I pledge to help those who are worse off than myself. I may not be able to always support financially but I know my time is just as important. It’s time to go back to the way things used to be. Back to when everyone was helping one another – not looking for a way to sue their neighbor but looking for a way to make their life more enjoyable. It’s time to care about one another as brother and sisters – not enemies.

-*- I pledge to be an active member of this coalition to help one another.

-*- I pledge to do my part to help make a CHANGE. Do you?

What’s your pledge?
Create your own pledge. Don’t not create it because you don’t want Barrack Obama as our president. Create it because you want a better life for yourself, your children, your grandchildren, your great grandchildren, your great-great grandchildren and so on and so forth …

So be sure to hit the Presidential Pledge page and leave your pledge.

There’s literally hundreds and hundreds of comments and pledges listed on there and it will be difficult to find each others so please post your pledge there and then come back here and copy and paste it here in a comment below so we can see the pledges of our fellow work at home moms, small business owners, home business owners, etc. Let’s share our pledges with one another – and better yet – let’s help each other succeed with our pledges.

Be sure to check out the list of organizations recommended by some of our favorite celebrities listed on that page as well. Research any of the organizations that may interest you, find one you believe in and feel passionate about. Then do something about it. I myself am going to look more into the Make a Wish Foundation and a couple others.

You don’t have to be rich or help out financially.
(Your time is just as important!)
You don’t have to be a celebrity to make help make a change.

Let’s start our own list of recommended foundations, organizations, etc. so we can not only be aware of them but also find one (or more) that we want to be a part of. I strongly believe if everyone in this country were to do their part – that alone would turn this country back into the free world and best country we’ve always boasted to be.
