Ok Thanks. Yes I did mean traffic or visitors to my blog. I didn't know this, thanks! Hopefully after blogging a while I can actually contribute something! For now, I'm still in learning mode and looking everywhere for answers.

Have A Great Day!...and...

Hmmmm well I'm not really sure how getting "hits" (and I assume you meant to say "visitors" or "traffic") to your blog would bring up their ranks. I guess I'm not sure what kind of ranks you are talking about.

If you mean where your pages land for certain keywords in the search engines, then visitor totals would have zero affect on this. Google and others could really care less how much traffic the site gets, and it's not a factor in the least.

Aloha,

Pls. excuse me if this sounds stupid...I'm really new to blogging and am having lots of fun...I was just wondering if people have contests not necessarily to sell products but to get hits on their blog to bring their blog up in the ranks? Thanks for any answers.

Ya beat me to it, lol! I was just coming to post about this very subject. Guess it helped that we both seen the same email.

Yeah, I received a newsletter over the weekend that had this very "advice" in it! I was shocked. As Kara put it, "Is that a top three no-no list?"

The worst part about this is the fact that this wasn't just someone who thought they were sharing good advice on a message board. This was a NEWSLETTER! Someone who claims to know what they're talking about and teaches others. I don't know how many subscribers this person has but I really hope not a whole lot or I hope they figure out the truth on their own!

Before you start taking advice from just anyone ... make sure it's GOOD advice!
