Firefox, Internet Explorer, Netscape, Oh My!
What web browser do you use? With my recent problems logging into MommysHelperCommunity.com, I’ve been getting quite an un-wanted lesson in web browsers, security settings, cookies and all.
To be quite honest with you, I was perfectly satisfied NOT knowing all these things. Funny, give me a website to create or a blog to write content for and I’m your gal but man, when something doesn’t work on your computer, be sure to skip by me. Otherwise, I’d be on my message boards right now.
I’m really beginning to think it has something to do with my own personal computer, settings and/or my web browser - which is currently IE7.
Netscape, Flock, Mosaic, Safari … yadda, yadda, yadda, blah, blah, blah!
I was perfectly happy with IE6 and should have never updated to 7. I can’t say that’s exactly when my problems started happening but I have a good feeling it is. At this point, I’m not even sure why I updated?
After trying everything I know, I asked for some help from others. Needless to say I got to hear about everyone else’s favorite browsers (not that I’m complaining - I’m desperate!) I hadn’t realized there were so many out there. Well, I knew there were more out there but I honestly thought (most) everyone was using Firefox, Internet Explorer or Netscape. There I go thinking again, lol!
Those are the three I’ve tried and I always end up going back to Internet Explorer. It’s just the one I feel most comfortable with. Netscape and Firefox I didn’t care for at all - although many adore Firefox. It seems to me that you either hate FF or love it - not much of that in between stuff there, lol!
Problem Solved!
I re-download Firefox even if it did turn out I needed to use it just for my message boards - like I said, I’m desperate. After downloading and even re-starting my computer (for good measures) I tried logging into my boards. The first two times were a no go but finally (3rd times a charm, right?) I got in on the third try. I even hit the little “automatically log me in each visit” button. After answering a couple PMs and posts, I shut the window making sure I didn’t log out. Opened a new window and tada - I was in! Closed that one and opened a new one and yay - I’m still logged in! Problem solved!
Or so I thought …
The very next morning, I tried to go in and wouldn’t you know it, I was logged out and couldn’t log in again. Ugh! Pretty bad when you can’t log into your own message boards. It’s driven me so crazy that I’ve been saying it’s been two weeks - when in all actuality as Val had pointed out, the last time I had made a post was on June 24th - funny how it can seem like forever, lol! (Although, in my defense, it was starting to give me problems before that. For example, it would take me several times before I actually got logged in.)
Anyway - I got off topic a bit - I thought this would make for an interesting conversation. Let’s have some fun with my misfortunes, lol!
What’s your favorite browser?
And an even funnier question I have to ask …
How many browsers do you have downloaded on your computer?
Your fellow WAHM in success,
Anita
