Free Webinar about Aweber’s Price Increase

Are you as much of a fan as I am of Aweber? I am literally a HUGE fan of Aweber. However, I was a bit disappointed in the recent dramatic price increase. (Warning – this is a little long post but a very important topic!)

While this increase incudes an awesome stat package … I still think they missed something … they’ve forgotten about the “small biz owner”. This stat package – as good as it might be – it may be just a bit “too good”. I’ll be quite honest w/ you when I say I’m nowhere near in need of some of the new stat options available. We’re talking some really “deep statistical information” – way beyond my needs and way beyond most “small business owners”. Even chatting with some who are “bigger” than me, I’ve found that even they don’t need this much.

Anyway – if you were a customer before I believe 6/10 and as long as you don’t updgrade – nothing will change. You will be “grandfathered” into the same plan you were. However, like I said …

PLEASE TAKE NOTE – If you want everything (including your price) to stay the same – Do NOT Upgrade! Once you upgrade, you will get all the new stat options AND your price WILL INCREASE.

Yes, I’m “yelling” and “bolding” because that is a very important note and the price is a dramatic increase. And like I said, the new statistical options are really above and beyond what most will need.

The good thing is, they do still have their $19/month service available. I am thrilled w/ this because I think this is a perfect price for those who are serious and aren’t afraid to invest into their business but just can’t afford the outrageous price some services charge.

However, that said, my only “beef” about this is the fact that they’ve drastically reduced the “base subscriber rate”. Before the changes, with the “$19″ plan, this was for up to 10,000 subscribers. With the new pricing, this has been reduced to 500 subscribers. Here is the new pricing model:

500 Subscribers $19
2,500 Subscribers $29
5,000 Subscribers $49
10,000 Subscribers $69
25,000 Subscribers $149
Over 25,001 Subscribers … Contact Aweber

So really, to be quite honest with you, Aweber is an absolutely fantastic service – fantastic. I still highly recommend it (even to the small business owner). AND, really, when you think about it … $19 for up to 500 subscribers is not a bad deal at all … not for as wonderful of a service as it is. At this point … my own personal opinion … it’s just the idea. I think they so could have reduced this somewhat – but I don’t think they needed to reduce it quite that much, you know?

Remember, what I just said is for new customers only. If you were a customer before 6/10 and as long as you don’t upgrade – nothing changes.

So all that said, we did have quite the conversation about all this over at one of my favorite internet marketing blogs, ClickNewz.com w/ Lynn Terry ( Aweber Announces Dramatic Price Increase ).

Please Note: If you do visit this blog post – make sure you read all the comments. There was quite a bit of confusion as to exacty what was going on until near the end of the conversation when Justin from Aweber stopped by to clear things up. I only wanted to make special notice of this because a lot of it was confusing enoug – not reading the entire way through could start a bunch of confusion all over again.

I’m also pleased to make another special notice that Lynn will be holding a special Q&A webinar interviewing Justin Premick from Aweber about the recent price increase and changes. This is a free webinar but you will need to register here to get the log in details. This is sure to be a great webinar and unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend. So, be sure to join in. If you do join the webinar, please feel free to stop back here and share your thoughts afterwards. I’d love to be there myself but can’t so I would love to hear how things went.

Edited to add: Oops! Sorry, I almost forgot to tell you when the webinar was! It is tomorrow (6/24) @ 12:00 EST

And regardless of the changes … I must say once again … Aweber still is an awesome service and I still highly recommend it. It’s very high on my “good business investments” list.

I guess the way I see it is they have to raise their prices at some point, and yeah I wish they wouldn’t have put the subscriber limit so low. However, I’m assuming you still have the ability to add as many lists as you want. That to me has always been a HUGE value.

If you remember the old mailing list provider we used, their pricing was all per list you owned, and it was JUST a mailing list provider (didn’t have the options as Aweber did. With all our list we would have ended up paying something like $50/mo which is just crazy for the little that provider gave you. Plus whenever we would have added a list, it would have cost more. Aweber on the other hand gave us unlimited lists.

So yeah, it stinks the prices went up. Although I’m happy we were grandfathered in to our price, showing they at least care about their loyal customers. Unlike the phone and cable companies who give all the good stuff and cheap prices to new customers. That always has irked me!
