@ Nell
I've seen some of Melissa's work and I'm very impressed to say the least!

However, for this time, I think Marcie & I did a pretty good job. I've even impressed a copywriter - that made me feel pretty good! He wanted to know who I hired to do it! lol!

And I swear ... I didn't hire anyone! LOL!

Here's a peek of the
"Extreme Sales Copy Makeover"

And I only rave when I'm really impressed. Melissa is amazing. I've got her working on some copy for me as I write this :) Good luck with the sales page...whether you write it or have someone else I'm sure it'll turn out great.

Oops! Well now aren't I embarrassed

Well, not really.

Although, I do feel quite silly because yes, Kara - sales pages ARE your thing. And, I even made that very note in this particular post. The topic of our DSH stuff had come up and I said something along the lines of ...

Kara writes all of our sales pages for DSH.

And I didn't ask you for help why? ROFL!

In my defense (not that I feel as though I necessarily need to defend myself - just feel as though this should be said, lol)...

This particular post didn't exactly start out as a "Critic of my sales page". As a matter of fact, the title of my post was this:

Why Wouldn't You Buy My Ebook?

I didn't exactly expect it to turn into a full-blown critic session on the sales page in general. (Although of course I knew it would come up some.)

I was really looking for different reasons as to why someone wouldn't buy my ebook.

Like I said, I thought I did everything right.

And Kara, if you remember back, I was so excited after I created that sales page? I thought it was great.

AHA! That was another lesson I knew but was quickly reminded of ...

No matter how good you think it is, always have someone unbiased honestly review it. Better yet, have them critic it.

And DO NOT expect to hear just good stuff. Like I said above, expect the bad and ugly too. Unfortunately, we learn the most from the bad and the ugly.

So no, to be quite honest, I didn't realize that my sales page stunk so badly, lol.

Since I've had so many of the "bad" and the "ugly" of my sales page pointed out to me, I realized that hmm ... no wonder I'm not selling! lol

Like I said above, I have a writer working on it right now as well as myself. I want to learn something new and she wants to learn something new as well as hopefully add something else to her growing list of services.

Now, all that said ...
Kara, I will probably have you REALLY critic the final product when it's finished.

And one final note ...
Let’s think of it this way - would you hire a plumber that didn’t know how to put a door? Sure you would! They are both home improvement tasks, but very different areas.

That describes this entire conversation perfectly,/b> and I couldn't have said it any better!

Anita I couldn't agree with this post more. Ironically enough, sales letters happen to be my strong point (and you didn't email me WHY? I knew nothing about you needing help! LOL!). SEO is also my strong point, and so is building lists.

Now when it comes to things like networking, I see you as more of the expert. Ebooks and ads are also your strong point. Not so much mine though. I can do it if I have to, but I'd much rather hand those tasks off to you.

No I don't think we should have to be an expert in every area. I think our time is better spent focused on those things we ARE good at and know how to do. I would much rather learn from someone who is focuses on specific areas.

Thanks Nell. That was pretty much my way of thinking.

And just like I said above. Had this particular ebook been about sales page copy and I was asking for help ... then yeah, I would expect someone to say something like that.

I've never claimed to know everything. And apparently writing sales pages is definitely one of those things I don't know.

I'm also starting to do a lot more outsourcing myself. I've had an advertising assistant for a really long time. Actually, very soon she's going to be my full time advertising manager.

I actually know the person you have write your sales pages. The only reason I know this is because she was recommended to me by Aurelia and I seen your raving testimonial, lol.

She's on my list. As it stands right now, there is two of us working on it. I myself would like to learn how to write a better sales page and I have a writer who doesn't have any experience. lol!

Together we're going to try to do this ourselves. Simply because, like I said I want to add something new to my "know hows" and she's hoping to be able to add a new service to her writing business.

BUT, we're not crazy. The whole plan/goal here is to get more sales from my sales page. If we're not 100% satisfied with the results, then yeah we'll be contacting Melissa.

Anyway, yeah, I was quite dumbfounded when I read that particular comment. Needless to say, there's been a lot of replies since my reply but not a single one touched the subject of whether or not I should be asking for help. lol! The conversation went on as if it never happened. lol!

By the way ... great to hear from you! Long time no chat sweetie ;)

I think it's actually a very dumb move if one is to hold back asking for advice because they're worried that other people will think they aren't a guru.

None of us knows everything about everything and we should ask advice when we need it. I'm picky about who I ask advice from or where I ask it, but other than that I do ask advice when I need it.

I also outsource things when I know I'm just not good at it. Like copy. I have someone I use for my sales copy...that is her expertise and she rocks my world! And isn't very expensive in the world of copywriting.
