What do your kids want for Christmas?
A post over at MommysHelperCommunity.com gave me an idea for a post here …Â What do your kids want for Christmas this year?
My son - as simple as he is has only asked for Pokemon cards and matchbox cars. LOL ! He is probably the simplest to buy for but also the hardest because he gives you no real ideas, lol! He does collect the matchbox cars and absolutely loves him so we’ve definitely gotten him a bunch of new ones.Â
My daughter - she wants baby dolls? Yeah what’s up with that? My 11 year old daughter wants baby dolls - more specific, the Baby Alive. The one that eats, drinks, talks and dirties diapers. She also wants all the accessories, diapers (which you NEED with this one, lol), bottles, diaper bag, bed, dresser - well, the whole sha-bang. Yeah, needless too say, she has NO problem telling us what she wants, lol! I’ll never understand it though. When she was younger, she wasn’t into dolls. We would buy them for her but she never really played with them. We had gotten rid of all her dolls a long time ago. The only doll she still has is her My Twinn Doll. My MIL bought it for her a long time ago and we couldn’t get rid of that - way too expensive, lol! But now she wants a sister for her. I told her she could get the Baby Alive but I couldn’t do another My Twinn this year.
Now with all that said … the other thing she wants is a “grown up” bedroom? Hello?!? Gosh, she’s at a weird age! ROFL!
But, here’s the cool part! Both my kids want a bedroom makeover. New bedding, curtains, decorations etc. She wants a “funky, cool looking” theme and he wants all spiderman. Both of their rooms are in desperate need of a makeover so no complaints here. They’re thrilled to get new bedrooms and mommy and daddy are thrilled to spend the money on something better and more useful than a bunch of toys that they don’t really need! Yeah! Makes everyone happy!
Plus hubby is making them new furniture plus a new bed for dd for their rooms at the new company we’re starting so that’ll all be super-super cheap! Again, another plus!!
Not to mention … mommy and daddy are having a blast buying all this new stuff! As I mentioned in the other post, we bought new paint in the colors that the kiddos picked out last night and we’re in the process of painting their rooms. Oh I can’t wait!?! Is it Christmas yet?
Wow … that turned out to be a lot longer than I expected, lol! What do your kids want this Christmas?

Funny my kids tell me all year they want certain things (whatever they are advertising on TV!), but now their minds seem to have gone blank! Well not completely.
Chase has been begging for a GameCube for the last several months. I made a deal with spelling tests and he’s almost there - so that’s what he gets for Christmas.
Jillian is pretty easy. She wants anything Littlest Pet Shop. I found a great big playset for a good price, so that’s what Santa is bringing her.
Other than that, they are mostly getting quite a bit of handmade items. Chase is getting a quilt (FINALLY!), they both are getting pillows, Jillian is getting doll clothes and a dress, and so on. Best part is, I’m having a BLAST making all this stuff for them!

LOL! I can so relate to whatever they are advertising on TV! I see that a lot! Funny how both my kids did the “Hey mom, I want that!” Long story short, my daughter used to do it all the time before my son was even born or old enough to “repeat” her. Well, by the time Cole was old enough, he was saying it the same way she did! LOL!
Littlest pet shop … Melanie loves those too. However, her newest “thing” is the My ePets. She loves them and mommy loves the fact that they’re less than $10 each. Makes the whole “collecting thing” so much easier and cheaper!
We’re also working on making some things too! Except Melanie knows what they are and we’re working on them together. We found all kinds of Spiderman decorations for Cole’s room but just haven’t found the right ones for Melanie’s. They’re either not the right style we like or not the right color. Well, as I was emptying Melanie’s walls and bedroom, I noticed a picture frame I had made many years ago out of plastic canvas. It was the perfect answer! We could make whatever designs we wanted in whatever color we wanted! Not to mention we get to do it together and Melanie gets to learn a new hobby. Did I say Perfect?
Oh and Miss Kara, where were you and Idea Queen a week ago when I was searching online for that perfect bedroom set?!? I ended up buying her comforter set offline but we’ve yet to find the perfect curtains. So, glad you showed me your newest page at IQ - Cool Kids Bedrooms - Free Ideas for Kids Rooms before I bought curtains! There’s even a link there for Window Treatments and Drapes. I’m there already, ROFL! Thanks!

I could only wish that my 12 y/o daughter asked for a baby doll for Christmas. Nope.. instead it’s a cell phone uugghhhh!!!
However I am fortunate in that she works 2 - 3 mornings a week babysitting twins - getting them up and ready for school, then onto the bus, so she’ll be paying her own monthly bill LOL. (Is that mean? lol) Aside from that, she wants clothes. And not the no-name cheapies. She’s discovered the dreaded ‘Brand Names’, so now we’re shopping at Hollister, Aeropostale and all the other places I wouldn’t even consider walking into before due to the price tags!
My 4 y/o .. talk about TV! Everything he see’s that isn’t for girls he shouts ‘WANT IT!!!’ Spiderman is still huge this year, as are Transformers and Bat Man - tons of options for him.

Oh no not a cell phone!! What on earth did we do without cell phones when WE were teens? Gees we had to rely on regular phones and hang out spots to talk to our friends. How horrible eh?
And the brand name thing….ohhhhh you are in trouble now. Funny I remember if I wanted the brand name clothes, I had to buy them myself. I remember my favorite brand being Guess, but on fast food wages I could only afford to have one pair at a time lol. Either that or go shopping with my frugal friend who could sniff out the BEST discounts a mile away. Dang, I miss the days when we could blow $100 on clothes and not worry about bills!
