Unfinished Is Good
Today I came across something rather exciting.
Most of you know I’ve been putting a lot of time into Idea Queen. Ever since I took Cricket’s class well over a year ago, it’s been one of my main focuses. I did a complete revamp of the site, making major SEO tweeks until the site had several hundred visitors a day. The next major project on the site was the blog, which doubled what I had from the SEO tweeks. Now the current project is making very minor changes on each and every page, as well as adding new content for both the site and blog.
Of course, the site will never really be “finished”. But today I came across a whole section that apparently had been overlooked in the first major overhaul of the site. An entire section with at least 10 pages that need major work, and could have so many more pages added to it.
Why does it excite me that there is major work to be done? Because it means there is more possibility for the site to grow. It means I have that many more pages and ideas to add. The site has another chance to make a big leap. YES this excites me, because that one section could bring in another hundred visitors or more a day. Which of course means more income (which is the goal, right?).
So go take a look at your site - are there parts of it that need work? Did you forget a few pages even existed? I bet you’d be surprised at what you’ll find, and how fast your site could grow if you put a little focus into individual pages and sections!

Kara and Anita,
Just stumbled on your website and found this post.
I agree with you. When running an online business, there’s always something to do! Which is good, because if there’s nothing left to improve, your business is stuck — which probably isn’t good news for most people.

Yes! This is exactly what I was getting at. If there’s nothing to do, there’s no more improving. So glad to see someone understood the point I was trying to get across.
