A Tale of 2 WAHMs

I didn’t think it was possible, but I’ve found new ways to dislike Google. I now also see why Traffic Secrets has a new version coming out. Not to say the old one isn’t still useful, but there’s information that does need to be updated.

I honestly don’t think the changes to Adwords could be predicted. Heck, I don’t think ANYONE really knows what’s going on in Google’s mind. Kinda like trying to figure out why Walmart’s prices are now weird amounts instead of the old 90-something in change. (Look next time you go - you’ll now see the old 99 cent items marked at 88 cents, and other things marked at amounts like “2.63″)

I’ve got a huge learning curve here as it is, and now trying to catch up to what they’ve done to make their searches “better”. Honestly I think the “better” they get, the less relevant searches become. Have you tried lately to search for something on any of the search engines? It’s extremely frustrating. They managed to get rid of the spam sites, but everything relevant went along with it (and this is a rant coming from an old affiliate marketer, who’s main income use to be small affiliate pages from organic search……..Google thought it wasn’t relevant, but my sales said otherwise. Searching now gives you nothing even close to what you want.)

No sense in complaining about the past though. The focus must be on the present in order to succeed. I would say we all need to stick with the methods that won’t ever change, but that’s not realistic. The truth is everything changes and evolves. What worked yesterday may not work today.   What ad pulled in the most sales last week may not next month. People change, economies change, cultures change, and beliefs change.

So to succeed the real trick is not to just do what works, but to be able to adapt to change. That’s what I’m doing now- adapting and learning the new rules of Google. Not to say I’m enjoying it, but I’m doing it anyway!
