Your Links are Good Here

U Comment - I FollowAnd I’m still at it. As I mentioned yesterday, these plugins are absolutely addicting. Although, there was one thing that I thought we already had but apparently wasn’t reading closely enough. (Boy, I need to fix that problem of mine!) But serisouly, I really thought we did and I apparently totally misunderstood the whole concept. To be honest with you, I didn’t put that much thought into it because I wouldn’t see why someone would want it any other way – not to mention, you’d think something like this would come un-installed and then let the blogger make that decison.

Apparently most blog software comes with a “no follow tag” installed. Easy description … if our readers leave a comment and a link … it’s a dead-end street. This tag doesn’t allow the search engines to follow comment links. Uh why? I guess I understand because of all the comment spam BUT, hopefully you’re reading your comments anyway … it doesn’t take but a second or two to delete the comments you don’t want. Well, no sense in trying to figure that one out but, just so you know, I’ve broke the tag. So, feel free to leave us a comment and we’ll promise to share the link love. We appreciate our readers and more importantly, we appreciate the interactiveness and feedback. Isn’t that one of the best features of a blog?

Spammers Beware:
Just because we’ve decided to let the links “count” doesn’t mean you can leave us worthless comments just to get the link. Our comments ARE moderated and will continue to be so. Any “spammy links” or “non familiy-friendly links” or “links to spam sites, hate sites or anything of the like sites” will not be permitted and will not be published! So, don’t waste your time or ours. Move on

How to do it:
Depending on what blog platform you’re using, there’s a few different ways around it:

–> If you’re using WordPress, this plugin will do it for you.

–> If you’re using Moveable Type, this post will help you.

–> If you’re using Blogger, this site

This is all a part of the “U Comment – I Follow Movement” Are you a blogger on board? If so, drop us a quick reply and let us know. I promise we’ll let the search engines follow your link

You know I was thinking Google was kicking comments out of backward links, but never thought it was a default of the blog itself. That actually makes much more sense. We’ll see if that’s really what it is, and I hope our visitors let us know if their comments are appearing in their backlinks! (If not, I might just go snooping after the next update! )

I learn something new everyday! Thanks for sharing that info. I hope I’m not inadvertently stopping my visitor’s links from being followed as well. While I don’t read and post to blogs for traffic, it’s certainly nice to know that the possibility’s there

Great points here. I am addicted to plugins myself and I just installed a dofollow plugin. I think it’s important for readers to be encouraged to comment as they are the life-blood of your blog in a way. Thanks.

Glad to have another dofollow blog to visit!:-

Your blog is already doing so well so this would be more of a “thank you” to your readers, I guess.

My blogs are set up to allow comments, but they cannot be brief (one-liners) nor do I approve comments that are “attaboy” in nature.

U Follow/I Follow is meant to remind people that their comments are welcome, but they have to be relevant. In other words, spammers need not stop by!
