A Tale of 2 WAHMs

So I’ve hit a new challenge which I’m not exactly sure how to go about. Normally I go to groups to find link exchanges (both page to page exchanges and “normal” link exchanges), but I really don’t want to do this with this site.

Why don’t I want to post my niche site in public? Because of the idea vultures.The people who couldn’t come up with a unique idea to save their life, and do nothing but sit waiting for someone to post something they can steal. It’s happened to me more times than I care to count, but before it didn’t matter so much. The “ideas” were add on pages to sites, or even business plans. Irritating yes, but not a major deal. A stolen niche site IS a big deal though.

You have to understand this is a huge niche I’ve found. My main focus for marketing is SEO, so not many “business people” are ever going to see this site because it’s just not things they search for. It’s doubtful this niche has even crossed their mind as something to do for a website. No, my market is strictly consumers, and I’m not about to go searching for extra competition.

So here I sit trying to figure out HOW to get backlinks to this new site without making it public. I’m not one that likes to pay for things, but I might actually have to with this one. Heck I couldn’t even use the trick of “link exchange + niche” to find sites accepting link exchanges for this market. Yes it really is that good of a niche - there are VERY few sites like this. As in maybe 5 TOTAL. There’s no directory for sites like mine either. So targeted link exchanges is going to be a HUGE problem.

The only solution I’ve come up with so far is to do like I normally do - post on certain groups I’m looking for link exchanges. BUT the only difference is I won’t be giving the link for them to look at. I don’t want that public. Instead I’ll have to say just what type of sites I’m looking to exchange with (both main page exchanges and link page exchanges). Blogs too, since I’ve got a blog attached to this site (which, by the way, is pretty quick and  easy to update I’ve found!).

I’m still thinking and searching…….who knows what I’ll come up with!
