First Day of School
It’s every work at home mom’s holiday - the first day of school! I’ve been waiting for this for weeks, like a kid at Christmas time. Sure we had a fun summer, but getting back to normal is oh-so-nice.
Unfortunately today wasn’t as easy as it was last year. My oldest is now in 1st grade, and is getting to the point where he doesn’t really care for school all THAT much. So getting him out of bed and getting him ready this morning was a battle. I think he’s interested in seeing his new teacher and friends from last year, but that’s about as far as his excitement goes.
My youngest on the other hand, couldn’t get ready fast enough. Even though she doesn’t go to school until afternoon. Regardless, she’s sitting in the livingroom quietly right now, watching what SHE wants to watch without having to fight with her brother.
The movie “Finding Nemo” comes to mind on the first day of school. I’m like Nemo…..”First day of school! First day of school! Wake up!! Let’s go!!” dancing all around. Although I was totally busted last night when I mentioned how excited I was about school starting. My daughter says “But why? We’ll be gone!”. Oops. Busted. I told her I was excited FOR them, and that seemed to make her happy.
Anyway, I plan to get a LOT of work done today. All this week for that matter, now that I’ve got total and complete silence for 3 hours every single day. And well, without her brother, the youngest is as good as gold too.
